Meet the squid - CORRECTION, octopus - next door! Squidward is Spongebob’s next-door neighbor and Krusty Krab co-worker. Squidward isn’t exactly pleasant - he’s known for being a deeply sarcastic, stick-in-the-mud, grumpy guy who strongly believes he is smarter and classier than everyone around him (especially SpongeBob and Patrick). His hobbies are painting self-portraits, playing the clarinet, and just generally disliking everything and everyone.
Even though Squidward is a known grump, you’ve gotta admit he brings the laughs! Some of Squidward’s most iconic moments include winning the award for Most Miserable Cashier in Bikini Bottom, the time SpongeBob slammed a door in his face and temporarily transformed Squidward into Handsome Squidward, everytime he goes tentacle to tentacle with Squilliam Fancyson, the time he coached the Band Geeks to Sweet Victory, and beyond.
Squidward’s first appearance is in the first-ever episode of the original SpongeBob SquarePants series. Squidward appears in the spin-off series Kamp Koral: The Under Years as a younger version of himself and a Kamp Koral camper! Squidward also makes appearances in all three SpongeBob theatrical films. Squidward is voiced by Rodger Bumpass in the original series. In The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, he’s voiced by Jason Maybaum.
